Approach

Our design studio does not espouse any particular style or aesthetic appeal for our architecture; whereas evolution of every design for us is a challenge in itself. Our pragmatic process of design driven by the forces which are unique to its context, function, users’ needs and aspirations, climate and their hierarchy lends every project its expression through the reflection of these factors. The aim is to find the best fit for given situation.

The design for us is more than seeking a solution to a problem. It is driven by a sense of belief that through our designs it is possible to create experiences that celebrate the essence of being human; and that the quality of our environment can nourish our senses, enrich our mind, and bliss our life. That is the strength of true design.

The process of working on every project is academic in nature where we engage deeply into development of thought process and an exercise of exploring multiple possibilities. The designs developed are studied through drawings, three dimensional models, reviewed and explored to arrive at appropriate responses to hierarchy of factors related to users’ comfort, aspirations, contextuality, affordability and sustainability. The nature of these responses determine the strategies and language for cutting edge designs which are rooted in to its place in their sensibilities.

We believe that quality in architecture is the result of understanding constraints, not of ignoring, or avoiding them. How well does the building fit into its site and surrounding conditions? How intelligently does it deal with the climatic conditions, its hazards, harness daylight and solar energy? What materials and technology does it use – and how appropriate are they in terms of affordability and local availability? What is the scale and ambiance of whole environment – and finally is it consonance with the sensibilities of the people there?

The academic nature of our process makes it pragmatic and challenging. The achievement lies, not just in the conceptualization but in the delicate process of nurturing and translating the thoughts sensibly into the powerful tangibles of the built form. It is by employing structure, materials, form, light, articulation and  structuring of spaces both built as well as un-built in their symbiotic relationship to communicate the idea to its best. Taking the conditions & constraints as starting point we sense the potential for the particular approach for the site and then push those boundaries.

The spiritual joy of creating spaces, their orchestration with light, its modulation, maneuvering of materials, and their details gives us the strength from project to project.

• Organization and articulation of spaces both indoor and outdoor to enhance the sense of participation between them.
• Structuring of meaningful, enclosed, open to sky spaces and achieving their symbiosis with contagious spaces.
• Optimum use of materials, preference to low embodied energy, recycled, and indigenous materials.
• Integration landscape elements, at all levels to improve aesthetics, provide cooling and psychological relief.
